Our Guides
The big mountains of the Mount Cook region are a serious place with rapidly changing weather and snow conditions - and more glaciated runs than anywhere in NZ. The terrain demands the best and most experienced heliski guides in the business.
IFMGA guide Trev Streat is our chief ski guide and one of NZ's most experienced heliski guides. Nobody knows the patch better than him.
Dave is a full IFMGA guide and Alpine Guides Guiding Director. He also directs our 4 legged member of the local avalanche rescue team, aka Stellar.
Faster than a speeding bullet, full NZMGA Ski Guide Ben has been carving up the Mt Cook region with us since 2009.
Tai is a full IFMGA Guide. He is based year round at Mount Cook; scaling peaks in summer and shredding it in winter with a little Daddy day care in between.
IFMGA Guide Jane is our poet laureate, healthy eating consultant and Japanese speaking expert (when Tai is not around). She also happens to be the President of the NZMGA.
Guides with Qualifications
All of Mount Cook Heliski's guides are professionals. They are either trained and certified to international standards through the NZMGA training program, or meet the requirements of the NZ Heli Operators Group.
They represent decades of experience, in New Zealand and worldwide. Our guides are trained in emergency first aid, mountain survival, and rescue.
